Obagi Blue Peel in Manchester & Cheshire

The Obagi Blue Peel is an ideal solution for any patient who wants to reverse the ageing process and it’s effect on their skin, such as, age spots, fine lines, wrinkles and large pores.  The Obagi Blue Peel is also suitable for removing acne scars, and can also treat oily or acne prone skin.

How does the Obagi Blue Peel work?

Using slow acting Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) mixed with the patented Blue Base from Obagi, the Obagi Blue Peel will remove the top layers of skin thus exposing the younger, fresher skin underneath.  Depending on your level of damage, your skin type and your desired result, your therapist will control the depth of the treatment and the peeling process.  As this treatment can be tailored to each patient’s particular needs, it is suitable for all skin types and skin colours.

Why Should I Choose The Obagi Blue Peel?

  • It is a non-invasive procedure, with minimal recovery time.
  • Less healing time compared with dermabrasion or laser treatments.
  • Most patients experience only minimal discomfort with the treatment.
  • All skin types and skin colours can achieve beautiful, younger looking skin.
  • Increases the skin’s defence to future ageing and other environmental factors.

Will the Obagi Blue Peel procedure damage my skin?

Not at all, before any treatment is carried out you will have a consultation with the therapist where your skin will be assessed and the level and depth of the peel will be decided.  There are no internal toxic effects as TCA is not absorbed through the skin.

Is the Obagi Blue Peel procedure painful?

Generally, most patients will have 1-4 layers of the Obagi Blue Peel solution applied to the skin.  As each layer is applied, the patient may experience a slight burning sensation that lasts 2-3 minutes, for most of our patients this is well tolerated.

After the treatment, a bluish tint will stay on your skin, this will normally wash off in 12 to 24 hours.  The peeling process will then begin within 2 to 3 days, and should be totally healed in an average of 7 to 10 days.

Are there any risks?

As with any procedure, there are some risks and these need to be considered carefully before going ahead with the treatment.  These can include:

  • Redness of the skin, which may last for 7 to 10 days, until the skin has totally healed.
  • Peeling of the skin, this may last for 7 to 10 days.
  • Following the treatment, a bluish tint may remain on the skin, this normally will wash off easily after one or two days.
  • Experience of some discomfort during the treatment, this may continue for some patients until the skin is healed.  Generally, it takes about two weeks for patients to fully recover from the treatment.
